The bigger picture

Why we work biodynamically is easily explained: the focus for biodynamics lies in the mutually supportive relationship between people and the land. It views the winegrower as only part of the bigger picture.

Trust in the power of nature

For years we have worked our fields with considerable experience but also a trust in the power of nature. Cover crops sown between the rows of vines fertilize the soil and provide a colorful and vital habitat for numerous beneficial insects in spring. Weeds are removed mechanically, and diseases are treated naturally.

The vineyard is an independent organism full of life and complex relationships. Living diversity is encouraged when working biodynamically. The result is wines that embody vitality and are unique in their expression, depth and complexity.

outside

Biodynamic preparations absorb natural forces by burying them in the soil, through absorption of sunlight and the process of dynamizing them in water. Horn manure, which we apply in autumn, has a revitalizing and strengthening effect on the soil and vine root system during the quiet season.
Horn silica is applied to greenery in spring and promotes photosynthesis, resistance and harmonious growth. Most important is that we keep a close eye on our vineyards and support them with respect and sensitivity.

Inside

Our motivation has always been to produce wines by working with, not against, nature. Our goal is to bottle unique, individual and distinctive wines that make their origins clear. To these ends, we work with minimal intervention and trust in the natural processes of winemaking: clarification through time, spontaneous fermentation, time on the lees. The same wines are allowed to be individual every year - as individual as the conditions under which the grapes were grown. Soil, exposure, microclimate and age of the vines give the wine its own special character every year.
